Workshop: get creative together and watch plants grow

ANTONIA ABLASS

Plants are not only essential for life, they also make spaces more beautiful, healthier, and more vibrant. Watching seeds sprout and grow is fascinating and helps us understand the world a little better.

In this workshop, we create with simple and creative textile techniques floating rafts. We add seeds onto the float, and let them swim. Within a few days, the plants start growing and make your home or classroom greener.

What do we do?

  • we use corks, natural yarn and wood to build small floating rafts
  • the techniques are rather simple, like weaving, crochet or simply wrapping the yarn around
  • then we choose seeds and add them onto the float

At home or in your classroom, you can but them into a bowl

  • the  we yarn draws water upwards and keeps the seeds moist
  • they start to germinate and grow
  • you just need to watch and refill the water before it is empty
  • if you add nutrients to the water, the plants will grow better

There are many ways to build your float,  you can get really creative, whether making your own or teaming up to create a big one together.
